While travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Cyrus Mistry, the former chairman of Tata Sons, was killed in a car accident. In Maharashtra's Palghar district, which is close to Mumbai, Mistry's car collided with a divider.
A police official claimed that Mistry was driving a Mercedes from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The collision took place close to the Gujarat–Maharashtra boundary.
He was travelling with two other people, one of whom being the driver of the vehicle. The injured have all been transported to a hospital in Gujarat. In the automobile with Mr. Mistry were Jehangir Pandole, Anahita Pandole, and Darius Pandole.
The other fatality in the collision was Jehangir Pandole, a family member of Darius Pandole. The removal of Mr. Mistry as the company's chairman was contested by Darius Pandole, an independent director of Tata group companies. With Mr. Mistry, he also quit the Tata organisation.
Anahita's husband is Darius, and Jehangir was her father-in-law. The car's driver was Anahita Pandole. The patriarch of the Mistry family, Pallonji Mistry, who was Cyrus's father, passed away in June at the age of 93, has suffered yet another setback.
PM Modi sends his condolences to Cyrus Mistry's family and friends. It's shocking that Shri Cyrus Mistry passed away so quickly. He was a bright businessman who had faith in India's ability to prosper economically. The business and industrial worlds have suffered greatly since his passing. We send our sympathies to his family and friends. May he rest in peace, his soul.
Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, says "shocked to hear about the passing away of former Tata Sons chief Cyrus Mistry. He was not only a successful entrepreneur but also was seen in the industry as a young, bright and visionary personality. It's a great loss... My heartfelt tribute."
Anand Mahindra, an industrialist, stated that it was "hard to digest" the news of Mr. Mistry's passing. "I got to know Cyrus well during his all-too-brief tenure as the head of the House of Tata. I was convinced he was destined for greatness. If life had other plans for him, so be it, but life itself should not have been snatched away from him. Om Shanti," said Mr Mahindra.
