Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, the biographical crime drama, based on S. Hussain Zaidi’s book, ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ received great appreciation and a terrific run at the box office. This work of the renowned director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, continues to crowd-capture even on its fifth day at the box office.
From the initially scheduled date of release, 30 July 2021, the film after its several postponed dates finally came out in theatres on 25 February 2022 and steals the spotlight with its pleasant visuals, dramatic background music and appreciation-worthy performances.
The film is based on the story of a real sex worker who was sold into a brothel by her suitor, later becomes a prominent figure in the underworld and won election of the area where she lived.
The enticing journey of Gangubai showcased in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ captivated and impacted the crowd such that after it earned ₹10.50 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office, it continued to collect ₹13.32 crore on the second day and ₹15.30 crore on the third.
By Monday, the fifth day since at the box office the Worldwide Gross Collection amassed to ₹88.89 crore.
With the kind of positive response the film has been able to capture, even during the Covid times, Gangubai Kathiawadi should comfortably cross over 100 crores.
