A gas leak at an apparel manufacturing facility in the Brandix Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Atchyutapuram district of Andhra Pradesh resulted in up to 50 female employees being sent to the hospital on Tuesday. According to early reports, female workers' nausea and vomiting caused some to pass out.
According to police sources, some of the workers received first assistance at the SEZ medical centre, while others were transported to close-by hospitals. According to a report by PTI, some of the unwell workers were reportedly expecting children.
In the garment manufacturing plants within the Brandix SEZ, thousands of workers—mostly women—are employed.
At Quantum Seeds, a division of Brandix in the Anakapalli district, female employees had reportedly become ill after breathing some hazardous gas.
A few women became unwell after a gas leak in an Achutapuram company was reported, according to Anakapalle Police. Some of them were taken urgently to a nearby hospital. No one was permitted inside the premises while police waited for APPCB personnel to show up and assess the situation.
A gas leak at a laboratory in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh's Atchutapuram neighbourhood, led to the illness of 178 or so female employees earlier in June. Later for treatment, other people were checked into the hospital. A joint committee was established by the government of Andhra Pradesh to determine what caused the gas leak after the tragedy.
The cause of the gas leak occurrences has not been disclosed by state officials or the administration. The management has permitted workers into the facility despite not being aware of what caused the initial incident.
