The much awaited film "Liger," starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, also features Mike Tyson, a former American professional boxer. When asked about including international themes in the movie, an ecstatic Puri says that hiring Mike was one of the best decisions the team has ever made as a whole.
One of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year is Puri Jagannadh's upcoming sports drama Liger. Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday play the key roles. Mike Tyson, an American boxer, will also make a special cameo in the movie and will thereby make his acting debut in Indian cinema, which is also a known fact.
Puri Jagannadh has admitted that it wasn't simple to get Mike Tyson to appear in his movie. He mentioned that recruiting Tyson took about a year. Puri also stated that Karan Johar suggested using Ananya Panday in the film.
The director did, however, admit that Janhvi Kapoor was his first choice for the role, not Ananya Panday. Due to his admiration for Sridevi, he stated, "I wanted to cast Jhanvi (Kapoor), but her dates were not available."
Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda will be starring together on screen for the first time in Lion. Deverakonda will portray a mixed martial arts fighter in the movie. Liger is being co-produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions in collaboration with Puri Connects. This year, Liger will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam on August 25.
Puri shared with the media during a meeting: “'Liger' is a huge budget film because of multiple fight scenes. And we had to shoot this at an international level. We needed many foreign fighters too. Since we were spending so much, we chose to go pan India and in fact global. Then we approached Karan Johar for the collaboration. He then suggested casting Ananya in the film.”
Vijay Deverakonda is portrayed by Liger as a stuttering kickboxer in the film. The actor had a significant physical alteration. He received martial arts instruction from Thailand-based choreographers of stunts.
