A new Covid variant has been found in the UK, as stated World Health Organisation in its latest reports. The new variant, called XE, is expected to be more transmissible than any strain of COVID-19.
XE is a "recombinant" which is a transfiguration of BA'1 and BA.2 Omicron strains. Recombinant mutations emerge when a patient is infected by multiple variants of Covid.
"Early-day estimates indicate a community growth rate advantage of 10 per cent as compared to BA.2, however, this finding requires further confirmation.”
XE - recombinant variant (BA.1-BA.2) was first identified on January 19 said Britain health Agency. A total of 673 cases of the variant has been reported till now.
The United Kingdom has detected a deluge in Covid cases due to the highly transmissible Omicron BA.2 variant. A total of 21,379,545 cases being briefed so far in the UK. The UK has witnessed 166,168 deaths now.
Meanwhile, there is a massive upsurge of Covid-19 cases in China. China has reported 13,000 cases on Sunday. A lockdown has been opposed in Shangai. The home of 25 million has become a hotspot for the country’s worst outbreak in a while. According to reports, another round of mass testing has been planned.
The World Health Organization (WHO) in its latest report said that the number of new covid cases around the world between March 21 and March 27 has lowered by 14 per cent in comparison to the prior week's reports.
