Heatwave in India: Mercury Crossed 40 Degrees in These 10 Cities

Most of the states of the country are experiencing severe heat. The situation is such that the temperature in many cities has crossed 40 degrees. Due to which the condition of the people is miserable. Meanwhile, IMD has issued an alert regarding heatwaves in many states of the country. The IMD has issued a heatwave alert for several states including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Sikkim, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Temperature reached beyond 40 in these cities

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released the list of hottest cities in India. Baripada of Odisha is at the top of this list. Where the temperature recorded 44.2 degrees on the previous day. Apart from this, 42.8 degrees have been recorded in Akola in Maharashtra, 43.2 in Chandrapur and 43.1 in Brahmapuri. At the same time, the temperature of Maharashtra’s Gondia-42, Amravati-42 and Bengal’s Bankura has recorded 43.7 degree and Kolkata has recorded 40 degree temperature. Apart from this, Sriniketan-43.2, Panagarh-43 have been registered in Bengal.

When the mercury rises, states issue advisories

Actually, as soon as the month of April started, the heat had started wreaking havoc. As the days passed, the mercury also kept on rising. In many states of the country, it has crossed 40 degree Celsius. Because of which the state governments have also had to issue advisories in view of the scorching heat. Many states have asked schools and institutions to remain closed or change timings to ensure the safety of students.

There will be no respite from the heat

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted an increase of 2-3 degree Celsius in maximum temperature over northwest India during the next 3 days. IMD said that no significant change is likely in the maximum temperature over East India during the next 5 days. Also, the maximum temperature is likely to increase by 2-3°C over Central India during the next 3 days. At the same time, there is a possibility of heat wave in different areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 3 days.

IMD said that heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Western Himalayan Region, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Rajasthan Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad during next 5 days Himachal Pradesh on 18 and 19 and Himachal Pradesh on 19 It may rain in Uttarakhand in April. Whereas, light rain with thunder/lightning/gusty winds is very likely in some parts of Maharashtra.
