Amidst the vaccination drive running full-on for youngsters aged 12-14 years, and booster doses ready for adults of 60+ age, new data has been released by the officials, indicating that India managed Omicron strain wave much better than other nations worldwide.
As per the data released, the average number of daily coronavirus cases in the country has reduced by 98.9% within seven weeks. The data collected was from January 19-25 to March 9-15. This is a huge drop in cases when compared to the global average of 50.3% during the said interval. On January 19-25, the average daily cases were around 3.11 lakh, which dropped down to 3536 cases during March 9-15.
Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has positively expressed his uptake on the declining numbers of covid cases by giving the credit of such feet to the strong political will, self-reliance, and technology-powered innovation and collaborative efforts of the country carried with in the past two years of the pandemic. He also underlined that despite nations’ large population along with varied geographical diversity, India has managed to set global standards for vaccination.
Until now, 180 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered all across the country. Among them, 65.4% have been vaccinated with both doses, whereas around 90% of the eligible population have been given their first dose of the Covid vaccine.
The Indian government has left no leaf unturned to fight against Covid-19. Collaborating with pharmaceutical companies, the country has now developed 4-5 vaccines solely aiding the population against covid. This could be a reason for the lower peaks and cases when compared to the global surge of covid patients. In the recent actions against the virus, the Indian government has started a vaccination drive for the youngsters aged 12-14 years and has removed the restrictions on co-morbidities for 60+ age adults.
Besides the vaccination development, what helped India in this pandemic was the timely and decisive actions taken by the GOI in respect to the management, treatment, and infrastructure development to keep the cases from spreading. The advancement in healthcare services has been a major leap in the country’s fight against Coronavirus.
