Additional Sessions Judge HC Shende of Dindoshi Sessions Court has sentenced Mohan Chauhan to death for the savage rape and murder of a 32-year-old lady in Sakinaka in September.

The court handed down the death sentence to the defendant who raped and killed a lady by putting a sharp object into her private parts.

While delivering the verdict, the judge stated that the crime was “gruesome.”

On Monday, the court found him guilty on all charges.

On Wednesday, Chauhan was in the witness box, waiting for the court to hear him during the process of determining the sentence’s severity.

He interrupted the proceedings several times throughout the prosecution’s arguments, alleging that the police had invented the case and insulting the prosecutor.

Judge HC Shende chastised him for his actions and told him to keep his cool in court.

On Wednesday, prosecutor Mahesh Mule, seeking the death penalty for Chauhan, said that the sentence should be suitable for the crime based on a series of court rulings.

Even though 108 countries have done so, he said that India had not abolished the death sentence since the number of crimes and their savagery had increased.

He went on to say that the images shown in court demonstrated the seriousness and perversity of the act.

Chauhan’s lawyer, Kalpana Waskar, contended that the case could not be compared to the Nirbhaya gangrape case since it is not a gangrape case and does not fit into the category of ‘rarest of rare’ to deserve the death penalty.

She argued that a heavy sentence would deny him the opportunity to change and that he should be given a chance.

A day after the tragic assault, in which a sharp object was placed in her private region, the victim died of severe injuries.
