From floods to earthquakes, NDRF stands ready for selfless service; In the Odisha train accident, the workers came as angels, there was a horrifying scene at the train accident site and screams were heard from all sides. Somewhere the passengers were covered in blood, while some had lost their senses in search of their near and dear ones. Despite such circumstances, NDRF took the front with strength.
Three trains met with an accident in Balasore, Odisha. Immediately after this accident, the National Disaster Response Force i.e. NDRF took a quick lead. Within just a quarter of an hour after the accident, the first team of NDRF reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations with immediate effect.
In spite of such adverse conditions, NDRF showed speed in a large-scale rescue operation and in no time eight teams took up the front. More than 300 personnel were involved in this rescue operation. 275 people died in the accident last Friday, while more than 1100 people were injured.
The NDRF, which has proved its mettle in the country as well as abroad, has given its services in many countries including Japan, Nepal, Turkey, Syria. On the basis of its special training, NDRF, which is always ready to help the victims of every natural calamity like flood, storm, earthquake, has successfully completed more than 2000 operations in the country and abroad in 17 years. Because of which NDRF is highly appreciated all over the world.
Be it the 90s or the decade after that, the country has faced many disasters. In which serious disasters like Odisha cyclone 1999, Gujarat earthquake 2001, Indian Ocean Tsunami 2004 are included. Taking lessons from these disasters and for quick response, NDRF was formed.
