On Election Day, November 3, there won't be any gatherings, the Mumbai Police warn

On November 3, the day of the Assembly byelection, an official said today that Mumbai Police issued prohibitory orders in the Andheri (East) constituency to limit the movement of those not involved in the electoral process.
He said that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) had issued an order in this respect yesterday.

According to the official, the prohibitory orders were issued under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) on the election day of November 3.

According to the order, he added that anybody who is not a candidate, polling agent, or government employee on election duty would be prohibited from going closer than 100 meters to the voting places in Andheri (East).

The spokesman said, “Police have advised voters to stay in line and obey poll workers’ instructions.”

Thirty-nine polling places in the constituency will house 256 voting booths for the election.

The source stated that there would be enough police deployed inside and outside the voting places.
