PM Modi lavishes G7 leaders with presents from UP’s ODOP

PM Modi carried unique presents for all the leaders created in UP and was the senior global leader in attendance at the G-7 conference. plan of "one district, one product"

During his two-day visit to Germany, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a few specialized gifts to the leaders of the Group of Seven, including a Gulabi Meenakari brooch, cufflink, black pottery, a platinum painted hand painted tea set, and a Zari Zardozi box. PM Modi brought unique presents for all the leaders created under the UP one district one product initiative and was the senior-most global leader in attendance at the G7 conference. He has already accepted invitations to three G7 meetings, demonstrating India's significance in the larger scheme of things.

The Gulabi Meenakari brooch, made of pure silver and molded into a base shape with the selected pattern imprinted in it, was a gift from Prime Minister Modi to US Vice President Joe Biden. Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is an art form with GI tags. The first lady, Jill Biden, received a matching brooch when the cufflinks for Biden were made.

US President Joe Biden received a Gulabi Meenakari brooch and cufflink set from the PM in Varanasi.

Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, was given a carrying box made in Lucknow. The three colors of the French National Flag, which has its roots in the French Revolution, were hand-embroidered on khadi silk and satin tissue for the Zari Zardozi box. The package contained Jasmine Oil, Attar Shamama, Attar Gulab, Exotic Musk, and Garam Masala, in addition to Attar Mitti, a special attar made in Kannauj Uttar Pradesh.

Prime Minister Modi gave British Prime Minister Boris Johnson a platinum-painted, hand-painted tea set from the Bulandshahr area. In honor of Queen Elizabeth's platinum jubilee, which is being observed this year, the tableware has been highlighted with platinum metal paint, according to the Prime Minister's Office.

PM gave a nickel-coated and hand-engraved brass vase from Moradabad, the Peetal Nagari or "brass city" of Uttar Pradesh, India, to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Fumio Kishida, the prime minister of Japan, was given Nizamabad-made Black Pottery items. By making sure there is no way for oxygen to enter the oven and the heat level remains high while the pottery is within the oven, a particular technique was utilized to bring out the dark colors.

A handmade silk carpet from Kashmir was given to Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada. The globe is well known for the softness, lushness, elegance, and devoted workmanship of Kashmiri hand-knitted silk carpets.

Prime Minister Modi had sent a marble inlay table top to Germany for Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. Agra is where this marble table top with inlay work originally appeared. According to PMO, this table top is made of semi-precious stones with gradations in its color that resemble the inlay work seen on Italian marble.

Other international leaders from South Africa, Senegal, and Indonesia also received gifts from PM Modi. While PM Modi gave the president of Senegal Moonj baskets and cotton durries, Indonesia's president Joko Widodo got Lacquerware Ram Durbar, a piece of GI-tagged lacquerware with origins in Varanasi.

Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, received Dokra Art with a Ramayana theme. India has used this non-ferrous metal casting technique for over 4,000 years.
