After being returned to detention and ordered released, Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh was given bail shortly after his arrest.
After finding that section 41 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was not followed during the arrest, the court ordered his freedom. Raja Singh is well known for his earlier divisive remarks. He had earlier this year warned that those “traitors” who did not back the Yogi Adityanath administration in Uttar Pradesh will face consequences after the poll.
T Raja Singh, who was detained after a complaint was made against him for allegedly disparaging the Prophet Muhammad, was released after being given a warning. A BJP MLA criticised Munawar Faruqui, a stand-up comedian who had just performed in the city, in a video that was posted on Monday. Additionally, it is said that Singh is heard making remarks in it that appear to be critical of Islam.
Raja Singh was the subject of a number of IPC charges, including encouraging animosity between groups based on religion, engaging in criminal intimidation, and engaging in willful and malicious acts with the intent to offend someone’s religious sensibilities. Raja Singh has since been suspended from the BJP, and the organisation has asked him to provide a justification for his continued membership within the next ten days.
