Revision Plea in 2016 Case Against RSS Chief Rejected by UP Court

A revision appeal contesting the dismissal of a case lodged against RSS chairman Mohan Bhagwat and others over their purportedly anti-Buddhist and anti-Emperor Ashoka statements was denied by a Lucknow court.
The revision petition submitted by Brahmendra Singh Maurya, who had contested the decision of the chief judicial magistrate court rejecting the case brought against the RSS leaders, was the basis for Additional District Judge Vinay Singh’s ruling.

According to Mr. Maurya’s revision petition, the original order was illegal under the statute.

However, the extra district judge dismissed the revision petition after concluding it lacked merit.

According to Mr. Maurya, statements made by RSS chairman Bhagwat and others in 2016 disparage Ashoka and Buddha devotees.
