Several districts in Karnataka are under flood warnings due to heavy rain.

Flood warnings have been issued in various northern districts due to severe deluge in neighbouring Maharashtra, which is causing heavy rains to continue disrupting normal life in coastal areas and the Malnad region of Karnataka.

According to Karnataka Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol, Maharashtra's neighbouring state's water discharge into the Krishna River and its tributaries has surged as a result of the heavy rains.

He said that the district administrations in Bagalkote and Belagavi are on high alert and have been told to take all necessary precautions. He noted that the inflow into Almatti reservoir has crossed 75,200 cusecs and that there is information that there is a possibility of severe flooding in the Krishna basin.

Rivers have swollen as a result of the rain, flooding low-lying areas and agricultural fields. Landslides have also been reported in hilly regions of the Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada districts.

Kurma Rao M, the deputy commissioner of the Udupi district, has declared a holiday for Anganwadi institutions and colleges due to the persistent rain in the area, according to news agency ANI. An additional holiday for Anganwadi schools and colleges in Alur, Arkalgud, and Sakleshpur towns has been announced for Thursday by Kodagu deputy commissioner Dr. Sateesha BC, Uttara Kannada deputy commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V, and Hassan deputy commissioner R. Girish.

In the majority of these districts, schools and institutions have been closed as a precaution.
