In a case involving Noida-based politician Shrikant Tyagi, who is suspected of harassing and assaulting a woman member of a housing society in Noida, six police personnel were placed under suspension on Monday for alleged neglect of duty.
After a fight with a fellow tenant of their housing society in Sector 93B, Tyagi was arrested on Friday under Indian Penal Code section 354 (attack or use of criminal force on any lady with the intent to offend or knowing that doing so is likely to offend her modesty).
While Shrikant Tyagi insisted he was within his rights to plant some trees, the woman objected, citing a violation of the guidelines.
The woman who had been assaulted received two personal security officers, according to a report by the news agency PTI (PSOs).
As the issue in Uttar Pradesh erupted, it was reported in numerous media outlets that Tyagi had been seen in the Uttarakhand towns of Rishikesh and Haridwar. However, after offering to offer all assistance to their counterparts in UP, the Uttarakhand Police stated that it did not have any information indicating that Tyagi was in the hill state. A 25,000 reward had been offered earlier in the day for information that would result in Tyagi's capture.
However, the BJP has so far distanced itself from Tyagi and his claims to be a party member.
In addition to working with other police agencies to apprehend the evading self-declared politician, Noida Police has reportedly offered a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his location. According to the information that is now available, 12 teams have been established to find Shrikant Tyagi, who has been missing since the video of him abusing a woman at Noida's Grand Omaxe society went viral.
To date, sources claim that 50 different locations have been searched for him.
As the national coordinator of the party's Yuva Samiti and a member of the national executive of the Kisan Morcha, Tyagi identified himself. Bharatiya Janata Party, on the other hand, has asserted that the man had no affiliations with the BJP.
According to officials, Tyagi has also been charged with violating the Motor Vehicles Act for allegedly using the government insignia for Uttar Pradesh on his vehicle without permission.
