Obaid ur Rehman Nizamani, a seasoned career diplomat, has been named Pakistan's next ambassador to the Taliban-run Afghanistan. With more than 20 years of diplomatic experience, Nizamani is currently the Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This will be Nizamani's first post as an ambassador.
He also holds the position of South Asia Director-General for the Department. In addition, from 2015 to 2019, Nizamani worked as the deputy head of delegation at the Pakistani embassy in Washington.
