According to government sources, a 22-year-old African woman who tested positive for the infection has been identified as Delhi’s fifth case of monkeypox. A month before, the woman had visited Nigeria.

She was brought to LNJP Hospital two days ago, and on Friday night, her findings were released, showing that she had tested positive. She became infected, becoming the second lady in the national capital to do so.

She came positive yesterday. A team of doctors are treating her now,” revealed Medical Director of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital Dr Suresh Kumar. She reportedly had travelled to Nigeria.

Monkeypox has been diagnosed in four people, including two ladies, who have been taken to the LNJP Hospital. A 34-year-old guy from West Delhi was the first patient to test positive for the virus. Last month, he had tested positive for the virus.

The second example included a 35-year-old Delhi-dwelling Nigerian man who had no recent history of travelling outside. Before the infection, he had blisters and a fever for five days.

Following a second monkeypox positive test from a Nigerian man on Tuesday, Delhi announced its third instance of the infection. The man was admitted to LNJP Hospital, a government-run facility in Delhi.
