However, later the brave soldiers of India killed these terrorists. The matter was investigated by the NIA. A charge sheet of 13,000 pages was filed for the investigation of this matter.
The Prime Minister had promised retaliation.
The mortal remains of the jawans killed in the attack were brought to the Palam air force area in a special aircraft. Here Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the then Home Minister and current Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other Union Ministers paid tribute to the martyrs. After this, in his speech on February 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pointed towards avenging the martyrdom of the soldiers. He had said that "all tears will be avenged" and that the armed forces have been given "complete freedom to decide the timing, rather than retribution, against the enemy".
