In a heartbreaking incident, five Indian Army personnel lost their lives during a tank exercise in the Daulat Beg Oldie area of Ladakh. The tragedy occurred in the early hours of Saturday, near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Nyoma-Chushul sector, when their attempt to cross a river went disastrously wrong.
According to defense officials, the soldiers were operating a T-72 tank, navigating across a river, when they were swept away by a sudden rise in water levels near Mandir Morh, approximately 148 kilometers from the main area. The accident happened around 1 am during a routine maneuver.
