Beginning
Vinod Khanna was born on October 6, 1946 in Peshawar, British India (now in Pakistan) into a Punjabi Hindu family. His mother’s name was Kamla Khanna and father’s name was Krishnachand Khanna. After the partition of India, his family left Peshawar and went to Bombay (present day Mumbai).
Career
He started his career with negative roles. Khanna appeared as a villain for the first time in 1968 in the film ‘Mere Apne’. After that he acted in many films. Initially he appeared in supporting and negative roles but later he established himself as a lead actor in Bollywood.

Personal life
Vinod met his first wife Geetanjali Taleyarkhan in college, after which Khanna married Geetanjali in 1971. He had two sons with her, Rahul and Akshay; Both became Bollywood actors.
In 1975, he became a disciple of Osho and in the early 1980s, moved to Rajneeshpuram. After losing his mother in 1982, Khanna felt an emotional void and turned to his spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh.
Khanna and Geetanjali divorced in the year 1985. In 1990, upon his return to India, Khanna married Kavita Daftari, daughter of industrialist Sharayu Daftari. From this marriage he had a son and a daughter.
Heritage
He died on April 27, 2017. Although Vinod Khanna is no longer among us today, his film legacy will continue to show the way for new artists and actors. To cherish this legacy, he was also honored with many awards, including Filmfare twice and Dadasaheb Phalke Award posthumously in the year 2017.
