More users will be able to transmit and receive large media files over WhatsApp.

Today, WhatsApp began rolling out the ability to share documents up to 2 GB to additional users. This new function, which was first announced in March, is now available to a broader range of consumers worldwide. It was first tested in Argentina, but now people worldwide are getting this much-needed upgrade. Both Android and iOS users can use the new file sending limit.

Users can access and share documents, media files, photos, and videos up to 2GB over WhatsApp. Having a friendly smartphone with an excellent camera has become a must. High-resolution photos and videos are shared on these phones. Because of the size constraint, sending them over WhatsApp has been a concern for many.

This increased bandwidth will enable users to send and receive large media files without resizing them. Only WhatsApp now supports a file size of 100MB.

You may test this capability by emailing any large file with a size of more than 100 MB but less than 2 GB. It’s excellent news if the message gets through, but you’ll have to wait for the function to come on your smartphone if it doesn’t. WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp tracker, first reported this new function.

“The ability to send bigger documents is now available to more individuals (including some users on older versions), and further activations are expected in the coming weeks,” he added.

WhatsApp was said to be pushing out a new update for desktop users yesterday to notify them of incoming messages. The instant messaging software now has a filter option for seeing pending or unread messages. They will also be able to filter communications based on contacts and non-contacts. Today, the firm is unveiling a new conversation filter on WhatsApp Desktop beta that allows customers to filter their chats by presenting only those that have fresh incoming messages, WABetaInfo said.
