Every year, 10th January is celebrated as Hindi Day all over the world. The purpose of celebrating this day is to promote Hindi throughout the world. Along with this, Indian culture also has to be taken to other countries. It was first celebrated in the year 2006 by the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. After which it is celebrated with great pomp every year. While International Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January, National Hindi Day is celebrated on 14 September. Not only in India, Hindi is also spoken in the Philippines, Mauritius, Nepal, Suriname, Fiji, Tibet, Trinidad and Pakistan. This is a day to unite the Indian speaking people across the world.
The first World Hindi Day was celebrated in Nagarpur on January 10, 1975. In which 122 representatives from 30 countries participated, but the announcement of formally celebrating World Hindi Day was made by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the year 2006.
Celebrating this day was started with the aim of spreading the Hindi language across the world. This day is celebrated with pomp and show from Indian embassies.
