Mohan Charan Majhi: Sarpanch Turned MLA Mohan Charan Majhi the New CM of Odisha

The new Chief Minister of Odisha is Mohan Charan Majhi. For the first time, Bharatiya Janata Party has formed the government in the state. Majhi belongs to Santali tribe. He worked as a teacher at the Jhumpura Saraswati Shishu Mandir, part of a network of schools run by the RSS's educational wing Vidya Bharti. He was sworn in as the 15th Chief Minister of Odisha on 12 June 2024, succeeding Naveen Patnaik. Along with this, BJP has made two Deputy Chief Ministers in the state. These two Deputy Chief Ministers are Kanakwardhan Singhdev and Prabhati Parida.

About Mohan Charan Majhi

He has won from Keonjhar seat on BJP ticket in 2000, 2004, 2019 and 2024. Majhi served as a village sarpanch from 1997 till 2000. He served as the secretary of the tribal wing of the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 1997. He was also a member of the standing committee of scheduled castes and tribes.
