Cherukuri Ramoji, founder of Ramoji Film City, was born on 16 November 1936. Ramoji breathed his last at Star Hospital, Hyderabad. He built the world’s largest film city in 1996. Ramoji Rao breathed his last in Hyderabad today at the age of 87. He entered the field of media in 1969 through the magazine.

  • Ramoji was born on 16 November 1936 in a farming family in Pedapaparupudi, Andhra Pradesh.
  • His real name was Ramayya which he later changed to Ramoji.
  • Ramoji Rao was the founder of the largest telecast Telugu daily Eenadu, ETV Channel Group and Ramoji Film City.
  • On August 10, 1974, Rao founded the Telugu daily Eenadu in Visakhapatnam. This newspaper gained popularity rapidly.
  • He established the largest film studio Ramoji Film City.
  • Ramoji Rao was also awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award, by President Pranab Mukherjee in 2016.

Ramoji Film City created by him is considered to be one of the biggest achievements of Ramoji Rao. It was established in 1996. There are many big studios in this film city where sets of many films are set up. Many big films, from the film Chennai Express to Baahubali, have been shot here. Yes, that big waterfall shown in the film Baahubali was built inside Filmcity itself. Blockbuster films like Pushpa 2, Salaar, Bahubali 1,2, PS1, RRR have been shot in Film City.
