Sarojini Naidu was a famous politician of India. She was also a poet. Due to her effective speech, Sarojini is also known as the Nightingale of India.
Sarojini was born on 13 February 1879 in Hyderabad. His father was Aghorenath Chattopadhyay. He was the principal of Nizam College in Hyderabad. His mother’s name was Varada Sundari Devi.
He was educated in Madras, London and. He passed his matriculation examination at the age of twelve. From 1895 to 1898, he studied in England at King’s College, London and then at Girton College, Cambridge, on a scholarship from the Nizam of Hyderabad. After coming to India, Sarojini Naidu married Muthyala Govindarajulu Naidu, a physician, in the year 1898 at the age of 19. He had five children.

In the freedom Movement
Sarojini Naidu was a prominent face of the Indian independence movement. Sarojini was one of the key figures who led the Civil Disobedience Movement and Quit India Movement. During this period, he was arrested several times by the British authorities and had to spend more than 21 months in jail. He was made the President of the Indian National Congress in 1925.
After Independence
After India’s independence on August 15, 1947, Sarojini Naidu was appointed Governor of the United Provinces (present-day Uttar Pradesh), making her the first woman Governor of India. Sarojini Naidu died of heart failure on March 2, 1949.
