The credit for connecting the Western world with Hindu philosophy goes to India's great spiritual guru 'Swami Vivekananda'. He propagated Hinduism (Advaita Vedanta) on the global stage. Today, on 4th July, he attained Mahasamadhi. Let us know about him through this article, however, some inspirational things said by him.
“We are what our thoughts have made us; So be careful what you think. Words are secondary, thoughts are alive; They travel far.”
"Get up! Wake up! And do not stop until the goal is achieved.”
“All the powers of the universe are already ours. It is we who put our hands over our eyes and cry that it is dark.”
“Get up, be courageous, and take the blame on your shoulders. Don't throw mud at others; You are the one and only reason for all the ills that you are suffering from.”
“Talk to yourself once a day, otherwise you may miss meeting an excellent person in this world.”
Swami Vivekananda has said the above statement on various occasions. He was born on January 12, 1863. In his childhood he was named 'Narendra Nath Dutt'. He was a priest of the Dakshineswar Kali temple and a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, one of the greatest saints of 19th century India. However, initially he was also inclined towards Brahmo Samaj.
Swami Vivekananda received the teachings of Vedanta from Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa and understood the existence of his human being. He learned the deep knowledge of life by staying in the company of his Guru Ramakrishna Paramhamsa. Thereafter, on the orders of his Guru Mata Shrimati Sharda Devi, he set out to teach Vedanta to the country and the world. In this context, he traveled to many countries including America and introduced the world to the unique knowledge of Vedanta.
He lived his last life on July 4, 1902. It is said that that day he meditated for two-three hours in the morning and in the very state of meditation he attained Mahasamadhi by piercing his Brahmarandhra.
Today he is not among us physically but the work done by him is illuminating the entire world through the Ramakrishna Mission established by him. Truly, he was the true son of Maa Bharti. If we say in the words of Narendra Kohli – ‘Put Anokho Jaayo’.
