On June 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of India for reposing their faith in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for a third consecutive term. In a speech delivered at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Modi celebrated the coalition’s landmark victory, highlighting it as a mandate for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
“NDA is certain to form the government for the third term. I am grateful to the people for their unwavering faith in BJP and NDA,” he declared, emphasizing that the victory belongs to 140 crore Indians.
Modi’s address was marked by a reverence for tradition and culture, as he invoked Lord Jagannath before beginning his speech, acknowledging the BJP’s significant victory in Odisha. “Today is a very auspicious day, and the NDA is going to form the government for the third consecutive time. We are all thankful to the public for this. The people of the nation have reposed their faith in the BJP and the NDA, and our victory is the win of the world’s biggest democracy,” he proclaimed.
The Prime Minister noted that this triumph marks the first time since 1962 that a government, after completing two terms, has returned to power for a third consecutive time. He attributed this unprecedented success to the collective will of the people and their desire for a developed India.
Modi extended his congratulations to prominent allies within the NDA, specifically highlighting the stellar performances of Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar in their respective states. “The NDA has also swept the states – Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh – where Assembly elections were held. The Congress has been wiped out in these states. The BJP, for the first time, will form the government in Odisha. It has also performed exceptionally in the Lok Sabha polls in Odisha,” Modi stated, underscoring the extensive reach and impact of the alliance’s victory.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also acknowledged the role of the Election Commission of India in organizing what he described as a historic election. “We have set a world record with 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, participating in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” Modi noted, highlighting the scale and significance of the democratic process.
Reflecting on a personal note, Modi shared a poignant moment about his first election since his mother’s passing. “This was my first election since my mother’s passing. India’s mothers and daughters didn’t let me feel her absence,” he said, expressing his deep appreciation for the emotional support he received from the nation’s women.
