Why is raw milk offered to Shivaling?
Offering milk on Shivaling is considered especially fruitful for the devotees. It is believed that by offering water to Shivaling, wishes are fulfilled. Milk is considered to be one of the best conductors of positive energy and when milk is poured on the Shivaling, the flow of energy starts concentrating towards the Lingam and the energy also flows into the mind and brain of the devotees.

Can boiled milk also be offered to Shivaling?
- It is believed that only raw milk should always be offered to Shivaling because it is considered more sacred. It is said that Lord Shiva’s mind remains calm and cool. When milk is boiled it is considered ripe.
Thus, it should be offered only for Naivedyam and not for Shivaling Abhishek. Boiled milk can spoil as quickly as cooked food. Due to the spoilage properties of boiled milk, it is prohibited to be offered to Shivaling.
