According to the Malayalam calendar, Onam festival is celebrated with pomp in South India in the Thiruvonam Nakshatra in the month of Chingam. The way of serving Sadhya is very different and special. Sadhya is served in a banana leaf only. It is a belief that Sadhya should eat sitting on the ground. According to ancient beliefs, eating food sitting cross-legged helps in proper digestion and also affects the body.
