History of International Tea Day
International Tea Day is being celebrated since 2005, but earlier it was celebrated on 15 December. In the year 2015, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations officially proposed celebrating International Tea Day in the United Nations. Which was recognized on 21 December 2019 and 21 May was declared International Tea Day. International Tea Day was celebrated for the first time on 21 May 2020 and since then this day is being celebrated every year.
Purpose of celebrating International Tea Day
The main objective of celebrating this day is to increase the consumption of tea across the world and to make people aware of the health benefits of drinking it. Apart from this, the people associated with the tea trade should also be made aware of the condition of tea leaves whether it is picking, drying or packing.
