Two suspects were arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in 24 hours in relation to the firing incident outside Salman Khan’s house in Bandra. Both the suspects were found hiding in a temple in Gujarat.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested two gunmen following the firing incident outside the famous Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s house in Bandra West on April 14. The two alleged shooters were found in Bhuj in Gujarat late on a Monday night.
“Both the accused, who fled Mumbai after the firing, have been arrested from Gujarat’s Bhuj,” the officials said. “The two accused have been identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal,” said Mumbai Police. They both are from Bihar and were arrested by the Unit 9 of the Mumbai Crime Branch, led by inspector Daya Nayak. The police further said that they will be brought to Mumbai for further investigation.
The firing had occurred on a Sunday morning at 5 am, as two unidentified men open fire outside Bandra’s Galaxy Apartment, where the actor resides. The two then fled the location while covering their faces under their helmets. Later they fled Mumbai to go to Gujarat and threw their pistols in a river. However, their primary motive was suspected to be monetary reasons.
Further investigations revealed that a total of four rounds were fired during the incident, leaving a live cartridge at the crime scene. The CCTV showed one of them firing towards the actor’s residence. Later, two suspected individuals were questioned regarding the incident.
CM Eknath Shinde had contacted Salman afterwards and assured him of his security. The CM was also in talks with the Police Commissioner of Mumbai to increase security for the actor. This resulted in the deployment of ten teams of the crime branch outside Galaxy Apartments.
Later, Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, took responsibility for the incident through a social media post, and warned the actor. He took to Facebook to claim responsibility for the firing outside Salman Khan’s house and stated that this was just a “trailer.”
