Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar believes batter KL Rahul doesn't trust his skills because of his poor form. Rahul, the Indian team's vice-captain, has had trouble scoring runs in the current T20 World Cup. Rahul has recorded scores of 4, 9, and 9 in India's first three competitive games. Before India's crucial match against Bangladesh in Adelaide, Gavaskar discussed Rahul's batting difficulties. Although you've implied that Rahul is a "Fantastic player, in Gavaskar's opinion, he "doesn't appear to believe in himself."
"Rahul gives off the sense that he is unaware of the sort of talent he possesses every time he fails to score runs. He doesn't appear to have self-confidence. He is a fantastic athlete and has loads of abilities. He's got to start saying, 'I'm gonna go and knock the stuffing out of the ball.' He's got to have that kind of attitude. I want him to swagger. It will make a difference," Gavaskar said during an interaction on India Today.
Due to rain in Adelaide on the day of their match against Bangladesh, Team India practiced inside.
Senior batsman Virat Kohli, who has a strong record in Adelaide, was spotted chatting with Rahul during the practice.
Gavaskar makes the same point, believing that Rahul may benefit from Kohli's expertise to overcome this difficult time.
"He (Kohli) is the elder player, has a tonne of runs in every format, and this has been his favorite ground. He will be able to direct him," said Kohli. I believe he was attempting to convey that early in the innings, when you are unsure of your off stump, the ball outside of the off stump might cause difficulty for anyone. You don't know where the ball will land.
Due to the nature of the format, you frequently play at deliveries that you would typically abandon. He's been out a few times by pulling the ball against his stumps, but let's not forget that he's a class act. That happened in Perth because of the extra bounce.
