With a substantial 89-run victory over the tournament's hosts Australia in the first game of the Super 12 round, New Zealand got off to a strong start in the ICC T20 World Cup. The Kiwis, who had fallen to the Australians in the T20 World Cup final the year before, had all of their critical batsmen on fire. The lower-order batters, though, are still concentrating on improving their batting techniques.
Trent Boult, one of the greatest bowlers in history, was spotted having a lengthy session in the nets while using his willow ahead of the team's upcoming game against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
The ICC shared a video of Boult practicing his swing on Instagram. The ICC posted interesting captions on each of Boult's strokes in the video, starting by comparing him with India captain Rohit Sharma.
Along with his bowling partner Tim Southee, Boult will be an essential element of New Zealand's strategy. The two pacers have had outstanding careers for the Blackcaps, but they aren't able to brag about winning an ICC trophy for limited-overs cricket.
The 2000 ICC Knockout Trophy, the forerunner of the current ICC Champions Trophy, is the only ICC trophy won by New Zealand in the history of white ball cricket.
