According to its most recent budget, Russia intends to spend a total of 34 trillion roubles ($600 billion) on defense, security, and law enforcement between 2022 and 2025, a person familiar with estimates by the finance ministry told Reuters on Friday.
This week, Russia ordered an additional 300,000 troops to mobilize for its expensive military assault in neighboring Ukraine.
According to the most recent data, Russia will spend 18.5 trillion roubles on national defense between 2022 and 2025, of which 4.7 trillion will be spent this year.
Previously, Moscow had anticipated spending 10.9 trillion roubles on national defense from 2022 to 2024, or 3.5 trillion roubles this year.
The 2.8 trillion rouble estimate for this year’s security and law enforcement expenditures has not altered. In contrast to the 8.7 trillion roubles initially allocated for 2022–2024, 15.6 trillion roubles are anticipated to be spent between 2022 and 2025.
The insider didn’t offer any more breakdowns or information. The ministry of finance chose not to comment. (1 dollar Equals 56.25 roubles)
