At the United Nations, China has vetoed an effort by India and the US to designate Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Shahid Mahmood as a global terrorist, the fourth time in as many months that Beijing has prevented attempts to do so.
According to information obtained, China blocked India and the US from designating Mahmood as a foreign terrorist organization target under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council.
China has halted listing requests for terrorists with ties to Pakistan for the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee regime four times in as many months.
In December 2016, the US Treasury Department identified Mahmood as a foreign terrorist.
