After Elon Musk bought Twitter, Amber Heard's account vanished a few days later. This occurred after Mr. Musk took control of the social media network, leading to many celebrities canceling their accounts. Following the $44 billion acquisition of the platform by the Tesla CEO last week, significant changes have been made, including the removal of the board of directors, the firing of top executives, the hiring of Tesla employees, and the announcement of an $8 verification fee in exchange for a blue tick next to your handle's name.
YouTuber Matthew Lewis, better known as That Umbrella Guy, was the one to detect Ms. Heard's account vanished when he tweeted on Wednesday, "Amber Heard has deleted her Twitter."
This account doesn't exist, according to the YouTuber's screenshot of Ms. Heard's Twitter account (RealAmberHeard).
When Ms. Heard deleted her account and the circumstances behind its deletion are unknown. She is now the most recent famous person to quit the site in the last week. According to NBC News, the others are former professional wrestler Mick Foley, singer Toni Braxton, and actress Shonda Rhimes.
After splitting from actor Johnny Depp in 2016, Amber Heard dated Elon Musk from 2016 to 2018. She lost a defamation action against the Pirates of the Caribbean star earlier this year, and the judge ordered her to pay him $10.35 million.
Although Mr. Musk was supposed to testify throughout the trial, he chose not to do so in person or remotely.
Many Twitter users have questioned if her previous relationship with the billionaire is connected to his takeover of the social media site due to the rumors surrounding it.
Morgan Tremaine, a former TMZ staffer who testified at Ms. Heard's legal battle with Mr. Depp, tweeted, "Hmm, looks like someone didn't want their ex-boyfriend to have access to their account and DMs."
Other commenters observed that Mr. Musk would still have access to Ms. Heard's account.
