The President of the United States has vowed to make his Russian counterpart par a price for invading Ukraine, in his first state of the Union address. He also announced that Russia has been banned from the US airspace adding that Putin has met with a wall of strength in Ukraine.
President Biden’s comments have come after the attacks on Ukraine have escalated dramatically on crowded urban areas, along with the bombardment of the central square in Ukraine’s second-biggest city and capital city’s main TV tower. It has almost been a week since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Russian military has assaulted their towns, cities including the strategic ports of Odesa and Mariupol located in the southern parts of the country.
The Foreign Secretary of India, Harsh Vardhan Shringla has stated that all the Indian Nationals have successfully left the capital city Kyiv after the Indian embassy had issued an advisory asking all of them to get out of the capital immediately. On Tuesday, India also lost one of its students to the war during the intense shelling in the Eastern city of Kharkiv.
Boeing, the US aeroplane manufacturer has said that it was suspending parts, maintenance and technical assistance for all the Russian airlines in the wake of the sanctions that have been imposed on Russia because of their aggressive invasion of Ukraine that has sent ripples across the global aviation industry.
Some of the Russian banks have also been facing potential payment difficulties after they got shut out of the SWIFT international payments system. These new sanctions that have been imposed on Russia by the US and its allies have led to the further isolation of Russia’s aviation sector in a similar way to that of Iran and North Korea but they are expected to have much larger consequences given the size of the markets of Russia and its high dependency on the Western suppliers in the past few years.
All the Indian nationals that were stranded in the Western parts of Ukraine have now been asked to move to Budomierz border check-point for a quicker entry into Poland avoiding the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing which appears to be congested, as per reports by the advisory.
The Defence Ministry of Ukraine said that it had evidence of the Belarusian army preparing to send its troops into Ukraine. The Ministry posted on Facebook saying that the troops from Belarus have been brought into combat readiness and were concentrated very close to the northern borders of Ukraine. According to the statement released by the ministry, there had been significant aircraft activity in the past 24 hours.
President Joe Biden, in his first 24 hours, called the attack by Vladimir Putin unprovoked and premediated and mentioned that the US would be going after the crimes of the Russian oligarchs. He also added that the US forces were not engaged and will not be engaging with the conflict of Russian troops in Ukraine.
