Sun fired nearly 20 flares just in two days. A powerful geomagnetic storm was informed to hit Earth on Thursday( 31 march).
The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) cautioned that two coronal mass ejections (CMEs), spat out from the overactive sunspot AR2975, on Monday (March 28), are heading toward our planet and might trigger a geomagnetic storm rated as G3 on NOAA's five-point scale.
NOAA said in a statement that, the storm won’t trigger serious consequences for infrastructure. However, we can witness stunning Auroras in the zones which are more distant from the poles.
“Auroras for this storm may be visible, if the weather conditions are favourable, as far south as Pennsylvania to Iowa to Oregon and points north," NOAA said in the statement.
The effects of this storm will be mostly at the poles.

A halo CME was initiated on the Sun on 28 March. Our model fit indicates a very high probability of Earth impact on 31 March with speeds ranging between 496-607 km/s. The possibility of CME induced moderate geomagnetic storms exists.
