According to a Taliban-appointed spokesman for the Kabul police commander, a suicide bombing on Friday that targeted an education institution in a Shiite neighbourhood of the Afghan capital left 27 people injured and 19 dead.
According to the spokesperson, Khalid Zadran, the explosion within the facility in Kabul's Dashti Barchi district happened early in the day. In the early aftermath of the blast, he lacked additional information.
Since the Taliban assumed power, there has been a constant stream of bloodshed, including this bombing. In the region, which is primarily occupied by members of Afghanistan's minority Shiite community, no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. The Hazara community has been targeted by the Islamic State group in the past, especially in Dashti Barchi. The Islamic State group has been the Taliban's main foe since they overran Afghanistan in August 2021.
Abdul Nafi Takor, the Interior Ministry's Taliban-appointed spokesman, had stated that "our teams have sent at the site of the blast to find out additional facts."
The Taliban have emphasised that they are safeguarding Afghanistan after decades of war, but in recent months there have been a number of explosives at mosques and in residential areas despite their claims. Since seizing control of Afghanistan in August 2021.
