According to a Huron Daily Tribune story, a guy in Michigan, United States, mistakenly entered the $300,000,000 Diamond Riches Second Chance game sponsored by the Michigan Lottery and won a lottery prize worth $100,000 (Rs 79 lakh). The 58-year-old won the reward on August 17, the source added.
According to a Michigan Lottery press release, he unintentionally joined the game by scanning the tickets using the app. At the man’s request, his identity has not been made public.
“I purchased a few of the $300,000,000 Diamond Riches tickets and, when I scratched them, scanned them on the Lottery app to double verify them,” he was quoted as saying by the Huron Daily Tribune.
“I never read the back of the ticket, so I didn’t know that by scanning them, I earned entries into a giveaway,” the man added.
To claim the award, the man visited the lottery headquarters. The outlet reported that he intends to assist his family with the money he has won.
“I saw an email from the Lottery one day notifying me that I’d won a $100,000 prize in the $300,000,000 Diamond Riches second chance drawing. I called the Lottery to see what the email was about, which is when I learned that scanning the tickets had entered me into a drawing. It was such a surprise,” he further said.
In each non-winning $300,000,000 Diamond Riches Ticket, any player is entitled to win a sum ranging from $500 to $100,000, according to the lottery announcement.
This is the first $50 scratcher and one of the newest instant tickets in the state.
