Using Kamikaze drones, explosions rock Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, for the second time in a week

Exact one week after Russian missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital, on October 17, 2022 morning in Kyiv, several explosions were reported, according to AFP journalists. Between 6:35 and 6:58 am, there were three explosions (0335 GMT and 0358 GMT). Before the initial explosion, air raid sirens were audible.

Universities, student bars, and restaurants may be found in the popular Shevchenkivskiy area of Kiev. In retaliation for the explosion on a bridge connecting Russia and Crimea, Russia reportedly launched numerous explosions on Monday last week, which also impacted the neighbourhood.

The strikes were carried out with 'suicide drones,' according to Andriy Yermak, head of the president of Ukraine's staff. Reuters stated that there was no immediate word of casualties. Russia has repeatedly denied using its so-called "special military operation" in Ukraine to target people.

Black smoke was billowing from a fire in the vicinity of the alleged attack, according to social media reports. The attack on Kyiv comes as conflict between Donetsk and Luhansk in the east has gotten worse.

In the vicinity of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in the south, Ukraine has continued its counteroffensive. The Donetsk region's cities of Bakhmut and Soledar are the subject of intense warfare, according to Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday.
